Bre Tiesi’s Parenting Clapbacks While Raising Her and Nick Cannon’s Son

Not holding back! Bre Tiesi is proud to be mom of her and Nick Cannon’s son Legendary — and has often defended herself against judgment about their nontraditional family.

The Selling Sunset star and Drumline actor were friends for years before they welcomed their baby boy in July 2022. Prior to his birth, Tiesi told E! News’ Daily Pop that the pair’s decision to have a baby together was decades in the making.

“I just respect and love who [Nick] is so much as a person, that when I thought about, ‘Do I want my son to be this person? Look at your characteristics, look at your personality, look at how you treat people,’” she explained during the March 2022 interview. “That’s what is so much more important to me than anything. And he treats me amazing, so that’s all I look at.”

While the birth of Legendary marked Tiesi’s first time as a parent, Cannon, for his part, first became a father in 2011 when he and ex-wife Mariah Carey welcomed twins Moroccan and Monroe. He also shares Golden Saigon, Powerful Queen and Rise Messiah, born in 2017, 2020 and 2022, respectively, with Brittany Bell and welcomed twins Zion and Zillion with Abby De La Rosa in June 2021. The Wild ’N Out costar and the DJ went on to welcome their third child, daughter Beautiful, in November 2022, two months after LaNisha Cole gave birth to her and Cannon’s daughter, Onyx. The Masked Singer host and Alyssa Scott welcomed daughter Halo in December 2022 — less than two years after tragically losing their first child together, son Zen, to a brain tumor when he was 7 months old.

While Cannon has faced backlash for his ever-growing brood, Tiesi has often defended the All That alum for his parenting choices, praising him for how he raises his children.

“He’s great,” the TV personality — who was previously married to Johnny Manziel 2018 to 2021 — exclusively told Us Weekly in April 2022. “I hear him on the phone [with his kids]. I hear stories. I hear stuff about the kids, and I know him very well. [I’ve been able] to watch him parent and [see] his patience and … his insight and how he explains things. He is just a very nurturing, loving human. Very constructive.”

For Tiesi, there is nothing but “love and respect” for Cannon’s relationship with his other children’s mothers.

“Our kids are siblings,” the Netflix personality explained to Us at the time. “However they decide to go moving forward with their dad, that’s their time and their intimate stuff. We’re just here to support and drop off or pick up or whatever they need. But [it’s] all love. We all are worried about our situation and our children and [doing] the best we can do. If anyone needs something, my door is always open.”

However, when Cole seemingly took issue with the Lip Sync Battle alum’s parenting priorities in December 2022, Tiesi clapped back at the photographer in defense of Cannon.

After reposting a screenshot of a comment from a fan via Instagram that read, “I love that he shows up for his kids. My kids’ dad doesn’t even send birthday cards or presents or Xmas gifts. Nothing,” Tiesi wrote, “THIS! Nick always shows up! Always [a] present, happy, consistent, loving parent and an even better person! We love u!”

The following month, the California native spoke out once again after a social media troll claimed she was in a “cult” and had signed a “contract pregnancy.”

“Y’all need help contract pregnancy,” Tiesi told the Instagram user. “I love Nick I love the person he is and the father he is. Make up whatever u want to process and justify the unconventional relationship we ain’t bothered.”

During an episode of the “Know for Sure” podcast, Tiesi defended her and the rapper’s nontraditional relationship. 

“It’s not necessarily anything,” she shared, explaining that she and Cannon are not monogamous with each other. “This is just us, this is our relationship and what you do outside of that is what you do outside of that.”

She added, “Everything is respectful, everything is honest. We don’t really define it.”

During an Instagram Q&A with fans, the model defended her choice not to announce the arrival of her and Cannon’s little one until a month after his birth. 

“I had planned on keeping [my pregnancy a secret] and announcing when he was born on his first bday etc butttt someone sold me out months in,” she explained. “After [that] I knew to never say how far along I was and I had enough photos to keep posting like I was pregnant,” she continued, adding an upside-down smiley face emoji. “I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again .. Y’all see what you want to see.”

She continued, “I took my time because I wanted to enjoy my son and my family and allow my body mind and soul the true peace to recover [and] embrace every moment. The internet is a dark nasty place and this was the most vulnerable thing I’ve ever done.”

Tiesi noted that she was glad she “made this choice” because she would have “been too fragile right after [Legendary’s birth]” to deal with any online bullying.

“People go out of there [sic] w[a]y to try and say the most horrible things to people they don’t know and there [sic] goal is to be hurtful and nasty and even something as beautiful as a new life can’t filter their hate and malice,” she said. “I had to protect my son.”

Tiesi defended Cannon after Cole seemingly took issue with his parenting priorities and questioned why she hadn’t been featured on his social media pages — despite his frequent posts about his other children.

In a subsequent Instagram Story, Tiesi gave a glimpse of another DM that pointed out how many parents “won’t be of any support emotionally for financially” to their children throughout their lives. The California native agreed, writing, “Facts.” 

When the model was asked if she feels “bad” for Cole after the photographer addressed the criticism she receives whenever she posts her daughter, Onyx, on Instagram, Tiesi replied, “We [the mothers of Nick’s children] ALL get it. Some choose to engage and acknowledge others do not,” she shared. “You have no idea what it’s like to be attacked constantly and the kind of evil things people say to us.” 

Tiesi later took to her Instagram Story to expand on her thoughts. 

“I want to be very clear here I have respect for all women involved. I have respect for all Women and mothers,” she wrote. “It hurts me that majority of these nasty hateful comments and messages are women … I have had all the same messages wishing my child dead and me and every other unwarranted and disturbing and hurtful comments but I choose to not engage or put any energy [into that.]”

She continued, “I love my child, I love Nick, and I will love and embrace every sibling and every mommy involved. There is so much hate in this world, and I understand I am in the public eye, but it doesn’t mean you have the right to do this to people. … Social media is NOT real life. Take a look at yourself and ask why your so miserable u would take the time to send these messages and comment these things.”

After an Instagram hater commented on Tiesi’s Valentine’s Day post — which featured footage of red and white balloons filling her home — claiming they were “concerned about the environment if [Cannon] is going to be this extra every time he misses a holiday,” the real estate agent swiftly shut down speculation that the Drumline star neglected her and Legendary on the romantic holiday. 

 “Ain’t nobody miss s–t,” she explained. “We celebrated each other over 2 days 😂 u want so badly to make him a bad dad and partner y’all pathetic.” 

She added, “And you follow me? 😂😂😂😂 SO WEIRD.”

When another Instagram user defended the pair’s relationship, telling haters to let them “live the life that makes [them] happy,” Tiesi acknowledged the support, writing, “Ware all very happy thank you 🥰.”
